“The Breakfast of Champions!” Every box featured a well-known athlete who was supposed to inspire the eater to great feats. But no matter how long I ate that cereal they never ran a champion equestrian, so eventually I switched to the family breakfast menu.

Today, the breakfast of a champion still matters, especially if you’re a horse. And lunch and dinner are just as important. In fact, equine nutritionists will tell you food as fuel for performance can be a critical factor in a make-or-break season.

But just like human coaches, every horse trainer has his or her own personal training table menu. For a look at winning menus, we’ve contacted the trainers or owners of 20 of NRHA’s top moneyearning horses today to give you an inside view of how champions chow down.
