The Showcase in the Pines Sale was held April 25, 2009 at the Landon Hays Memorial Arena in Arcadia, Louisiana. Dusty Taylor and the Taylor Made crew handled the auctioneering and sale management. A large crowd of pure-bred Brahman cattle breeders and commercial cattlemen selected from an outstanding offering of seed stock and commercial beef production animals.

There were more than 100 lots of registered Brahman cattle and more than 100 head of F-1 females and commercial Brahmans.

Consignors included: Bennett Farms, Kevin and Crystan Conly, Marvin Cruse, Bobby Davis, Ray Griffith, Dr. Richard Hughes, Smith Brahmans, Kratzer Brahmans, George Parker, Jr., Sagrera Brahmans, Ricky Sanford, Tiara Farms, Tuscany Farms, and Jimmy Weiss Cattle were sold to ranchers from Georgia, North and South Carolina, Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Texas and Tennessee.

The sale averages were as follows: Pairs: $2,906; Bred Heifers: $2,067; Bred Cows: $2,584; Show Heifer Prospects: $2,530; Open Heifers: $1,578; Bulls: $2,917; Flush: $4,600; and Pregnant Recips: $3,500.

High selling lots were: Miss Tiara Diamond D’ Oro, consigned by Tiara Farms of Graham, NC; purchased by Carriere Brahmans of Port Barre, LA for $8,900

JDH Lady All Manso, consigned by Bennett Farms of Choudrant, LA; purchased by Cannon Creek Ranch of Cameron, TX for $8,500

Lady H Bebe Manso 642, consigned by Bennett Farms of Choudrant, LA; purchased by Cannon Creek of Cameron, TX $5,600

BD’s Ms Hollywood, consigned by Bobby Davis & Ricky Sanford of Winnsboro, LA; purchased by Bennett Farms of Choudrant, LA for $5,000

F-1 Golden Certified open tiger stripes from Bonchasse Land and Cattle of Shreveport, LA;  purchased by Jimmy May Farms of Athens, LA for $1,500

The sale was a great opportunity for the consignors to showcase the quality of cattle they produce and for the buyers to add some of the best genetics of the breed to their herds.
