The Brahman Journal History
The Brahman Journal will celebrate its 39th anniversary in 2010. Before The Brahman Journal was The Brahman Review, a Florida based magazine that had American Brahmans in every issue. Then along came The Brahman Journal, and as it is hard for two magazines to survive in a small niche market such as Brahman cattle, The American Brahman Review soon shut their doors. The hard copy publication of The Brahman Journal was founded in 1971 by Lionel Chambers and has served as the official publication of the Brahman breed and The American Brahman Breeders Association since that time, a designation it has held longer than any other magazine. Joe and Marie Brockett purchased the magazine in May of 1979, and rolled out their first issue in January of 1980. The official publication of the Brahman breed, The Brahman Journal, changed hands again in 2002. After 22 years of writing award winning articles and meeting monthly deadlines, Joe and Marie Brockett decided to slow down and pass on the responsibility of The Brahman Journal. Victoria Lambert, along with her husband Carl, are the new owners of The Brahman Journal. They intend to continue publishing this monthly magazine in the same tradition as the past editors.

Since The Brahman Journal is read around the world, being sent to 52 different countries, it is important that the magazine contain a wide variety of information. The Brahman Journal is read by Brahman seed stock producers, Brahman show ring competitors, Brahman F-1 breeders and Brahman lovers from around the world.

November of 2002 was the first issue to be published under the new ownership. In this age of electronic media, Victoria Lambert felt it was important to not only have a hard copy publication, which tracks the history of the Brahman breed, but also a web site where readers can go to get the latest news.
Hence this website was created in 2002. We are glad you are here and look forward to hearing your review of our Brahman world. |
